I have heard alot about satellite phones from people, do they work well in the outback and is it true that you can hire them???

Yes hiring a satellite phone can be done. We hired one 3 years ago as the cost of one was not justified when hiring it was at a fraction of the cost.
Im sorry to say that i dont know where you hire these as it was so long ago.

Hi there Jane, Ashleigh is definitely right. The Motorola 9505A is nearly 2000 dollars to buy and you can hire them for about 300 to 400 dollars depending on the length of your travels.
