Turkey Creek's community started in the 1800's as a water hole (pub). It consisted of a dwelling in which beer was cooled by packing beer bottles in a crate filled with straw which was then covered by wet sack and placed in a breezy spot until the beer became 'Kimberley Cool'. Kimberley cool beer quenched the thirst of many a weary cattlemen and miners travelling between Wyndham and Halls Creek.
