Condong

This tiny village in far northern NSW, and close to the nearby town of Murwillumbah and a local horse racing track and not to mention the lovely Tweed River. It is just a 10 minute drive from the Queensland border, sitting amongst sugar cane fields and has a working sugar mill as its focal point.

Despite its diminutive size, Condong certainly has a lot going for it as a staging post for a whole variety of recreational activities. After all, Mount Warning - a popular place for climbers and bushwalkers - is close by, as are the delights of the Gold Coast, and a very different and interesting attraction - the Griffith Furniture Park.

Griffith Furniture Park, a family-owned complex mills its own timber, which is taken only from dead or dying native trees, and crafts it into superb, one-off items of furniture. The furniture, in turn, is displayed in an on-site showroom which shares space with an art and crafts gallery and restaurant. The grounds in which the mill, carpentry shop and galleries are set is also being replanted with rainforest species which once flourished in the Tweed Valley.
