Brisbane to Melbourne via Newell Highway.

Hi my fellow travellers. Though I might give everyone travelling from Brisbane to Melbourne the heads up on our relaxing travel journey.

Steve and I usually travel on the coastal route to Melbourne but this time decided to take the inland highway as the scenery on the coastal route became boring as we journey to Melbourne avery year to visit rellies.

I must say we did not know what to expect but soon to discover travelling down through the Newell Highway was much more relaxing as the roads were excellant with a hugh reduction in traffic. We took our time and soaked up the green hills and the wonder scenery and arrived at our destination much earlier than the coastal route.

There is a llittle town call Gilgandra where we made our first and only stop prior to reaching our destination. The town itself is around half way from Brisbane to Melbourne and a wonderful little town it was. There was all the shops and eating places a tourist would ever need and we enjoyed a beautiful evening meal at the Services Club where a free bus was organised by our friendly Motel owners.

Speaking of the Motel and worth mentioning, we stayed at the Three Ways Motel which is a small Motel with good size rooms. We only paid $90 for a deluxe queen unit fitted with a huge 42" I think? television set and free 3D blu Ray movies to go with it. The split system heating was beautiful as it was a cold night. We booked through their website while on the road.

Fuel prices were reasonable with little elevation in price but the roads were wonderful.

Oh and for those interested I will give details of our accommodation venue.

Happy Travels,

Maggie and Glen
