Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island is part of the 74 Whitsunday Islands situated on the perimeter of the Great Barrier Reef, just of the coast of Queensland. Hamilton Island is the largest inhabited island within the Whitsundays.

Hamilton Island has its own airport with direct flights available from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with connecting flights available from other departure points. In addition a catamaran service is available from Airlie Beach to Hamilton Island.

The annual Hamilton Island Race Week is a yachting festival held during late August and attracting more than 150 entrants. Originally started in 1984, this keelboat regatta event was changed to August in 1988 and has gone from strength to strength.

Hamilton Island is home to glorious beaches. The sand is golden and the water crystal clear. Holiday goers simply cannot visit the island without spending time on the beach - take a good book, the cricket set or your shovel and spade.
