Hamilton Island
Hamilton Island has its own airport with direct flights available from Cairns, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with connecting flights available from other departure points. In addition a catamaran service is available from Airlie Beach to Hamilton Island.
The annual Hamilton Island Race Week is a yachting festival held during late August and attracting more than 150 entrants. Originally started in 1984, this keelboat regatta event was changed to August in 1988 and has gone from strength to strength.
Hamilton Island is home to glorious beaches. The sand is golden and the water crystal clear. Holiday goers simply cannot visit the island without spending time on the beach - take a good book, the cricket set or your shovel and spade. |

Hamilton Island offers an abundance of activities to keep visitors busy. Sea kayaking, water skiing, fishing, wind surfing, helicopter flights are just a sample of what's available. In addition, taking part in a Great Barrier Reef tour is essential, as is experiencing a scuba dive, possibly even feeding a Groper.
Hamilton Island provides a wide range of eating options. There are a number of restaurants and take away outlets to choose from plus cafés and several bars.

Having eaten well, one can take a brisk walk along one of the many bushwalking tracks; the majority of Hamilton Island is natural tropical bushland. If walking is not your thing, a four seater golf buggy may be the mode of transport you are looking for – very popular on this island. |
Accommodation options include hotels ranging from 3 star to 5 star with self-catering accommodation also available, some options include buggy hire.
