Less than three hours' drive south of Perth is Boyunup, a predominately farming town in a well forrested region that's great for scenic drives. The town is located on the shores of the Preston River and the first European in the area was Captain Bunbury who visited the area in the 1880s. Due to the closure of the railway in Bunbury, the Boyanup Museum is the home of the 'Leschenault Lady' steam engine.

The Boyanup Museum also has a large collection of vintage and classic cars, blacksmiths shop, restored agricultural machinery and stationary engines, railway carriages, diesel locomotives. The Museum grounds are landscaped and include a picnic area with barbecues.
