FURTHER INFORMATION: Lake Jindabyne formed when the Snowy River was dammed as part of the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme. This lake covered the old township of Jindayne and was the last lake formed as part of the Snowy Scheme. The new township of Jindabyne is located on higher ground beside the lake and is a popular destination for winter and summer sports.
