Glossop

infoGlossop Info

Glossop is a small service town for the surrounding fruit growing area. The small irrigation settlement is situated on a scenic drive between Barmera and Berri on Sturt Highway.

It was named after Vice Admiral Glossop of the HMAS Sydney, which sank the German vessel Emden in the First World War. An anchor serves as a memorial to this commander.

In Glossop visit Australia's largest winery and distillery located just on the edge of Glossop and you can do a bit of wine tasting while you are there. While you're driving through, you also must stop at one of the fruit stalls situated along the Old Sturt Highway between Berri and Glossop that sell a large variety of in-season fruit and vegetables.
