Swan Valley
The Swan Valley is famous for its wine producing industry and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The Swan Valley is just thirty minutes away from Perth making the region a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Sandwiched between Bells Rapids and Guildford the charming Swan Valley is often referred to as "Perth's Valley of Taste".
The Swan Valley is home to some of Western Australian's oldest wineries with the Houghton Winery and Sandalford Wines being prime examples. There are a number of companies that offer tours to the local wineries with scenic cruises along the Swan River being a popular attraction. The Swan River covers a total area of 121,000 square kilometres and flows right through Perth.
The Swan Valley is an interesting region with its fascinating historical past. The regions first sighting dates back to 1827, but the area was originally settled by the Nyoongar people. If you enjoy exploring through historical churches then be sure to visit the All Saints Church at Henley Brook which is open seven days a week. Dating back to 1841 the All Saints Church is one of the oldest churches in Western Australia.
October is a great time to visit the Swan Valley as this is when the regions annual "Spring in the Valley" festival is held. This popular wine and food festival attracts record crowds each year and is famous for being one of Australia's largest wine and food festivals.
