Gold Coast Hinterland

Gold Coast Hinterland is made up of the spectacular McPherson Range which offers plenty of walking trails and some truly amazing scenery.

Journey through a patchwork of rural plantations, vineyards, farmland and livestock estates on the way to more than 100,000 hectares of National Parks and reserves, networked with miles of enchanting bushwalking trails.

Quiet country roads, just 30 minutes from the beaches, lead into canyons and valleys with their hidden secrets of natural wonders.

Springbrook Walk.There are various National Parks within the McPherson Range all offering their own walking trails and activities. The Gold Coast Hinterland also features a host of wildlife and many different species of birds.

Two main towns in the Gold Coast Hinterland include Mudgeeraba and Nerang. The Nerang River is an integral part of the cotton, dairy, sugar and timber industries within the Gold Coast Hinterland. Nerang is a centre for the Hinterland with a strong country lifestyle.

Mudgerraba.Mudgeeraba is also a country town, set at the base of the Tallai Hills. On the first Saturday of the month is a popular village fair which features a number of different stalls and entertainment.

Gold Coast Hinterland - Tamborine Mountain Gallery Walk.Heading west from Nerang or Oxenford the first part of the McPherson Range which you will come across is Tamborine Mountain, which itself is broken down into 9 individual National Parks and makes a great place to stop for something to eat.

Gold Coast Hinterland - Springbrook.Continuing on you will also come to the Springbrook National Park, which is based around Mt Cougal, Natural Bridge, and Springbrook. A fantastic drive to Springbrook is along the Springbrook Road from Mudgeeraba, passing fabulous rainforest and scenery along the way.

Another National Park within the Gold Coast Hinterland is the Lamington National Park which is west of Springbrook National Park. The Lamington National Park is home to the Lamington Plateau and features some spectacular rainforest.

Tamborine Mountain - Gallery Walk.An enjoyable drive throughout the Gold Coast Hinterland is the Gold Coast Hinterland Wine Trail. There are some fabulous boutique wineries where you can taste delicious wines and exquisite food.

Throughout the Gold Coast Hinterland there are a number of places where you can stay including camping grounds, and several lodges and guesthouses. It is a beautiful place to stay and very relaxing. There are also a number of fabulous cafes and restaurants which offer delicious snacks and meals, and several unique art and craft galleries.
