Mission Beach

infoMission Beach Info

Mission Beach is made up of a stretch of beaches including Bingil Bay, Garners Beach, Mission Beach, South Mission Beach and Wongaling Beach. There is fabulous rainforest surrounding Mission Beach which is home to the wonderful (but unfortunately diminishing) Cassowaries.

There are several great bush walking tracks around the rainforest, which are only a short distance and well worth it due to the excellent landscape views. Some of the walks include Bicton Hill Lookout, Edmund Kennedy Walking Track, Lacey's Creek and Licuala Walking Track. If you would like to learn more about the rainforest, you can join a walking tour.

Mission Beach is also a great place to come if you are into adventure. Plenty of outdoor activities are offered including diving, sea kayaking, sky diving, snorkeling and white water rafting. If this isn't enough, then you can also head out to Dunk Island and the Great Barrier Reef.

Mission Beach is also famous for its June Mudfest, which is a music and dance festival with various arts and crafts stalls. Definitely not to be missed id you are around.

There is a wide range of accommodation around Mission Beach, with many along the coast. There are also several hostels, which are mainly situated at Wongaling Beach. Eating out isn't a problem with plenty of restaurants and cafes around the area. Getting around the area is fairly easy, with the Mission Beach Bus Service covering the local area. You can travel to Cairns with Coral Coaches, as well as along the coast with Greyhound.
