Proserpine

Proserpine is a small rural town situated on the Whitsunday Coast, just south of Bowen. The pretty town offers a cultural hall, small park and large Sugar Mill. Pioneer Park is located just in front of the Sugar Mill , on the way into the town.

Proserpine's climate is typical of North Queensland and consists of two main seasons. The "Wet Season" (Nov-Apr) and The "Dry Season" (May-Nov). Thunderstorms are common during the wet season and clear days during the dry season.

Pioneer Park, ProserpineProsperine is home to many events throughout the year. The Professional Bull Riders event is held every year in September at the Proserpine Showgrounds.

Proserpine Post OfficeThe Proserpine Show is held at the Proserpine Showgrounds around the 25th of June. It is your typical show with carnival rides, sideshow alley and fireworks.

The Harvest Festival is generally held in October it is a celebration of the end of sugar crushing at the Mill.

The 'traditional' post office is located in the centre of the busy town. Just out of town is an interesting museum, which is also worth a visit. South of Proserpine is Gunyarra, a World War II site, which you should also visit.
