Big Day Out

Big Day Out is a hugely popular annual music festival that tours Australia and New Zealand. This great festival showcases electronic music, atypical international performers, contemporary rock music and local acts.

Started in 1992 as a Sydney-only show, Big Day Out now tours Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Auckland, New Zealand. Attendance at the Big Day Out has grown from 9,500 in 1992 to a whopping 255,000 in 2005!

Every year Big Day Out showcases amazing artists from a wide range of genres providing diverse entertainment for patrons. There are, as of 2006, 8 entertainment stages at Big Day Out allowing you to choose which bands are of particular interest to you. You should allow approximately half an hour to get into the area depending on the time of day.

It is important to bring with you to Big Day Out your: ID, ticket, sunblock, any required medication, mobile phone, still camera if you want and cash to last the entire day. Be sure to wear sensible shoes and drink lots of water. A number of public transport options are available, depending on which location you will be attending, including trains, buses and trams.
