Ekka The Royal Queensland Show

Ekka is a 10 day festival of fun for people of all ages. Held at the 22 hectare RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane City, it starts on the second Thursday of August every year. With over 600,000 visitors each year the Ekka has prospered beyond comprehension in the 130 years since its establishment.

The Ekka is where country and city join to celebrate the great lifestyle, industries and rich heritage Queenslanders enjoy. Ekka features a diverse range of industries including arts and crafts, lifestock, fashion, cuisine and more.

There is an abundance of sights to see at the Ekka while you stroll around the huge 22 hectare showgrounds. Talented performing artists roam the area, ready to entertain! You will come across shearing demonstrations and food showdowns, cattle judging and fireworks displays, scavenger hunts and belly dancing displays - Ekka has it all! Accomplished circus performers, dancers, bands and celebrities will woo crowds while adrenalin seekers can send their pulses soaring on the many extreme rides.

The hundreds of pavilions on offer include animal nurseries, automotive vehicles, Australian-made products, agricultural displays, fashion parades, international food and much more! One of the most sought after Ekka attractions is the Showbags. These bags of goodies range from approximately $2 to $128 featuring a huge selection of different products! There really is something for everyone at Ekka!

The best way to avoid parking hassles during the Ekka is to utilise public transport. There are special train services that drop patrons to the centre of RNA showgrounds and a number of buses that shuttle to and from the event.
